Boba Fett (as well as the leader of the other Starter Deck we'll get to in a moment) is also our first example of a leader with two deployment options: the first allows him to deploy as a Leader unit as usual, while the second allows him to deploy as a Pilot upgrade. This turns Boba into a formidable upgrade that you attach to one of your Vehicle units, which then becomes a leader unit with seriously boosted stats. What's more, when you deploy Boba as an upgrade, it triggers an ability that allows it to inflict a fair amount of damage on your opponent's units.

Leaders aren't the only cards in this set that can be transformed into Pilot upgrades. Many Unit cards, such as Bossk (Shift to Light Speed, 187), can be played as an upgrade thanks to the new Pilot keyword. Like the Contraband keyword in the Shadows of the Galaxy set, Pilot has its own cost, which you pay to play the card instead of its usual cost. So you could choose to play Bossk as a unit with a cost of 4, or pay 2 resources to attach it as an upgrade to a Vehicle unit.

As far as Bossk's ability is concerned, this ability to inflict damage on enemy units works well with leader Boba Fett's ability. Whenever you manage to reduce an enemy unit's hit points, your opponent's decision as to who will suffer the indirect damage will be that much harder to make. Particularly as a card like No Disintegration (Shift to Light Speed, 144) can lead to a unit having just 1 VP remaining. Combine all this with specialized indirect damage ships like the Aggressor on the Hunt (Switch to Light Speed, 165), the Zygerian Starhopper (Switch to Light Speed, 183) and Fett's iconic Firespray (Switch to Light Speed, 240), and your opponent will have to make these kinds of tough decisions all game long!
